Questions parents ask.

What is Nudge?

Nudge is a Chrome extension for Gmail. It reads the school emails on your screen, highlights the ones that need action, pulls the deadline out of each one, and reminds you before it is due.

Which emails does it flag?

The ones that ask something of you: permission slips, registration deadlines, payments, sign-ups, tests, and changes to pickup or dismissal times. It will not catch every single one, so Nudge is a second pair of eyes rather than a replacement for reading your mail. It looks for obligations inside newsletters and schedule notices too, rather than writing off whole categories as noise.

Where does my email text go?

To one of two places, and nowhere else. Either Chrome’s on-device model, which never leaves your computer, or — once you sign in — the Nudge service we run, which passes it to Anthropic and keeps none of it. The Anthropic key lives on our server, never in your browser. There is no analytics or logging of email text.

Do I need an account?

No. Nudge falls back to keyword and date matching, which catches plainly written deadlines. Chrome’s built-in on-device model is better where it is available, and signing in, which sorts with Claude, is better still. There is nothing to set up either way — no key and no server.

Does it work on my phone?

Not yet. Nudge is a desktop Chrome extension, so it runs on Gmail in Chrome on a computer.

What happens as a deadline gets close?

Saved items show a countdown, and Chrome notifies you the day before and the day it is due. You can change a date or remove an item at any time.
